ENAER

MODERNIZATIONS

ENAER carries out modernisations to extend the useful life of aircraft and convert them into advanced platforms that achieve the high performance required by contemporary aviation.

EXPERIENCE AND PROVEN RESULTS

ENAER has carried out important aircraft modernizations since its formation as a company, with the modernization of the C-101 advanced and tactical training aircraft, integrating a HOTAS (Hands On Throttle And Stick) type navigation and attack system, HUD (Head Up Display) and modernizing the technology of several of its systems along with the authorization to carry air-to-air missiles.

ENAER participated in the joint project to modernize the Mirage 50 fleet to “Pantera”, in 1990 for the F-5E fleet to Tigre III and the modernization of the Boeing 707 to an Aerial Refueling Tanker called Águila; the latter still in service with the FACH. ENAER periodically modernizes our T-35 PILLAN aircraft according to our clients’ specifications and has extended the useful life of numerous aircraft such as the Boeing 737 and 707, Hercules C-130, Twin Otter, F-5 TIGRE III and recently, the execution of the “Pacer Amstel” Life Extension Program for F-16 MLU aircraft.

MODERNIZATION OF THE HERCULES C-130

In addition to its Authorized Service Center and Overhaul capabilities for Hercules C-130 aircraft, ENAER is carrying out the modernization of its cockpit to “Glass Cockpit” technology, replacing its analog avionics with digital ones, developed in accordance with the latest technological advances in the field of flight management systems (FMS). Among the sub-member systems of the new configuration, the Integri Flight™ navigation stands out in combination with a Wide Area Augmentation System (WAAS-GPS) global positioning receiver and night vision (NVIS) allowing the Chilean Air Force aircraft to meet all current P-RNAV (Precision Area Navigation) requirements and provide a growth path to meet future air navigation capabilities.

ENAER carries out the change of T-56-A-15 engines, rewiring, control surfaces, fuel and structural systems, among others, which extend the useful life of the aircraft for decades.

F-16 PACER AMSTEL MODERNIZATION

ENAER carried out the modernization program called Pacer Amstel for the FACH fleet of F-16 Block 15 MLU aircraft, which included a series of changes, inspections and repairs to specific elements, achieving a longer useful life, greater operational capacity and cost optimization. Pacer Amstel generates the "Provision For", that is, it opens the doors for new modifications in avionics to be applied to the material and in this way, make it compatible with the technology used by Block 50. During 2018, overhaul services were carried out on 22 landing gear masses (19 Block 15 and 04 of Block 50) and also at the request of the FACH Logistics Command, a study was initiated to evaluate creating the capacity to carry out overhaul services of the "Integrated Servo Actuators" (ISA).

F-5E MODERNIZATION

ENAER has modernized the fleet of F-5E interceptor fighter aircraft to TIGRE III for the Chilean Air Force, with important structural modifications, cockpit, avionics, air refueling and electronic countermeasures systems. Another important achievement was the materialization of the program for the change of skin of the wings of the F-5 Tigre III interceptor fighter, carried out in association with Kellstrom Defense for the Chilean Air Force and for F-5 operators around the world.

DHC-6 TWIN OTTER MODERNIZATION

ENAER is responsible for updating the flight instruments of the Chilean Air Force's Twin Otter aircraft. This update consists of multifunction "Glass Cockpit" data display screens. During 2018, ENAER designed and manufactured auxiliary fuel tanks, completing the delivery of three auxiliary fuel tanks for this flight equipment. This work put the Company's Engineering and Manufacturing capabilities to the test, considering that there were no formal design plans to carry out this work, achieving a 100% ENAER solution.
